Another Heat Defeat

During the 1st three quarters, the Miami Heat played unstoppable defense getting steals, contesting shots, rebounding, blocking shots and I love how they guarded both Kemba Walker and Al Jefferson. Mario Chalmers had eight points, four rebounds & four assists, he did a great job of guarding Kemba Walker and he had a great overall night on offense. Dwayne Wade had 17 points, three rebounds, six assists, a steal & a block. He’s doing different things on the floor to help us win and I love to see that. Forget the scoring, he did a great job of setting his teammates up on offense and on defense as he contested shots and got a block and steal. Lebron James had 30 points, ten rebounds, six assists & two steals. From the start of this game he was engaged on both ends of the court. He was everywhere and I’m happy he’s making his free throws. Udonis Haslem had four points, four rebounds, an assist, a steal & a block; he played hard tonight especially on defense when he guarde Al Jefferson. Chris Bosh eight points, four rebounds,  three assists & a block, just like Wade, Chris Bosh was active tonight and he did other things to help us win forget the scoring, on defense he was always around contesting shots, getting rebounds, a block shot and settintg his teammates up on offense. Norris Cole finished with eight points, three rebounds, two assists & a block, I love how he’s been playing these last three games. Just because they’re up 3-0 it doesn’t mean anything we still gotta take care of business.

More than one way to build a Champion

In sports today teams are assembled to put fans in the stands. Other teams are assembled to win championships. Most teams are assembled to make the big shot owners millions and millions of dollars as a considerable tax write-off. But as of late the sports world has been looking to symbolize greatness. Greatness not only through players but through teams which spreads around cities to create a genuine love throughout those local communities. After the “Big 3” (Dwayne Wade, Lebron James, and Chris Bosh) in Miami was assembled a dynasty was born as they won two championships back-to-back. Now as time progresses other teams are looking to scout the best possible talent on one team to win a championship. The New York Yankees practically give away millions every season to perennial All-Stars to build the “perfect team”. But haven’t won the World Series since 2009 proving that loading up on talent doesn’t always guarantee championship success. What’s not mentioned is the chemistry and bonding needed to be established by teams in order to mesh in their respective sports. The first year the “Big 3” was put together they didn’t mesh well together due to clashing egos and lack of leadership on the team. They did make the finals that year only to lose to the Dallas Mavericks but gained an understanding and appreciation for the team’s style of play as a unit and as individuals. This understanding allowed the Miami Heat to ultimately win the NBA Finals the next two years consecutively. Although, chemistry plays a major role in champions so do the fans. In 2013, the Boston Red Sox were sluggish at best and were seemingly out of playoff contention in everyone’s mind. Then suddenly came the Boston Marathon Bombings which caused an uproar but led to a city gathering around their native team. This love and remorse that flooded the city of Boston was overcast by spectacular play from the Red Sox. The Sox used this massacre to bring a city together through sports and the fans supported a team that reeled their way into the playoffs. In those playoffs the heavy-hearted Boston faithful were just reluctant to make it in but with high fan support and support from the nation the Sox pulled off a miracle to win the 2014 World Series. This goes to show you that support and chemistry are just a couple of things that lead to the building of a champion not just athletes and payroll.

Game One: Charlotte Bobcats vs. Miami Heat

This series for the Heat isn’t gonna be easy if you’re thinking we’re sweeping the Bobcats you have another thing coming. The Heat came out flat taking jumpshot after jumpshot not attacking to the rim and no ball movement, but after a while they started to play championship basketball. They will live with Al Jefferson in the paint because they’re contesting his shots most of the time he made some tough shots today. Yes, he got injured a little bit but that doesn’t mean anything he still gonna play hard regardless and we have to notice that. They can’t live with Charlotte getting layups in the paint, wide open jumpshots and three-pointers they had some of those today and we have to fix that also we can’t come out flat at the start of the game like they did today and have a 12-point lead in the 2nd quarter and let it slip away they have to continue and build on it. This Bobcats team isn’t going away easily they have to just continue to play our game on both ends of the court we can’t slack. Mario Chalmers had seven points, three rebounds, two assists & a steal, he had an overall decent game today but I want to see more of him especially staying in front of Kemba Walker on defense. Dwayne Wade 23 points, one rebound, five assists & a steal, he played awesome today. His jumpshot was on, his attack to the rim was vintage and his playmaking skills were efficient. Lebron James finished with 27 points, nine rebounds & an assists. I loved how he stopped taking jumpshots and attacked the rim in the post and got to the free-throw line. Udonis Haslem had two points, three rebounds & one block. He did a good job guarding Jefferson on defense. Chris Bosh had 13 points, four rebounds, two steals & a block. He played good today but I want to see him be more aggressive on offense stop taking threes and shoot that mid-range jumpshot or attack the rim and get to the free-throw line and had way to much today but overall he was active on both ends. Norris Cole had seven points, one rebound & two assists, it was nice seeing him make his jumpshots today. They’re going to need those during this playoff run. Ray Allen had just two rebounds, two assists & a steal. He didn’t score today but he did other tings to help us win. James Jones had 12 points, three rebounds & an assist, he needs to be their 2013 Mike Miller coming off the bench. Jones played great today shooting the three, getting layups and I loved how he played defense contesting shots and getting rebounds. This series isn’t over they still have work to do since they made some mistakes today and they have to fix them but good win today for Game One, day off tomorrow, Tuesday/practice and they’re back at it for Game 2 in South Beach, lets go Heat!!!!!

Gametime on South Beach

Its been a long long NBA regular season for the Miami Heat a lot of downs but a few ups. Going to the NBA Finals for a third consecutive NBA season winning two NBA championships. It’s a different year, new season no one said it was going to be easy coming into this season but they held through and became #2 in the Eastern Conference. Forget everything that happened during this regular season its over and done and all is refreshed and new come Sunday afternoon at 3:30 when they play their first playoff home game against the Charlotte Bobcats in South Beach. Sunday is when the journey begins to the championship. If they 3peat its going to be for Shane Battier because he’s retiring at the end of the season. Hoping Michael Beasley gets well soon from that right ankle injury. Let’s go Heat!!!!

Heat Win Big Against Knicks.

Good win today, I hated that we started the game sloppy with those turnovers and we didn’t play any defense. But after the first few minutes we woke up, start playing defense, and our game on both ends was great. We can live with J.R.Smith shooting 10 threes Lebron was right in his face only 2 of his 3 point shots were not contested. Rio 15 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists & 1 steal, he played very well today especially on offense, setting his teammates up, attacking the basket and making a clutch 3 in that 4th quarter to put us up more while NY was going back and forth making threes. Toney Douglas 5 points, 3 rebounds & 3 assists, he was everywhere on defense tonight, running out to contest shots, getting rebounds, steals, and it was good to see him make some jump shots on offense as well. LBJ 38 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 steal, the only thing he did bad today was have 5 turnovers and have 4 in the opening 3 minutes he can’t do that he has to clean his turnovers ratio up but after that he just went off on both ends, playing defense, getting rebounds, and on offense he was just unstoppable attacking the paint time and time again getting to the free throw and making his free throws. Udonis Haslem (UD) 6 points, 11 rebounds & 2 assists, my boy was hustling today, crashing hard on the boards on defense, getting those offensive rebounds on offense plus he went out of bounds to keep the ball alive and threw it to Chris Bosh for a shot, those type of energy plays is why UD is important to us he stays ready every night. Bosh 14 points & 7 rebounds, he was very active today on both ends. Cole 2 points, 1 rebound & 5 assists, he was great on defense playing hard and he did a great job on offense with his passing. Ray Ray 12 points, 1 rebound, 1 assists & 1 steal, when he’s coming off screens and shooting those threes he’s unmatched, the greatest 3 point shooter in NBA history. Shane 6 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assists & 3 steals, I Loved his production off the bench especially on defense, he did a great job of guarding Carmelo, fronting him, denying him of the ball, contesting every shot he put up and it was nice seeing him make that 3 point shot again from that left and right corner he needs to make those of shots for us on offense every time. Rashard 4 points, his defense was solid today. No Birdman, no Wade but our role players stepped up big time today. Day off tomorrow/practice and lets get ready to play those Nets when they come to our house Tuesday night, lets go Heat!!!!!!!

UCONN’s the Team to Beat

After watching the NCAA Final Four Semifinal between #8 UCONN Huskies vs. #1 Florida Gators I enjoyed a show of triumph and determination. UCONN mustered up the courage and will to win; proving they wanted a chance at a national championship more than the Florida Gators. In the beginning the Huskies seemed overwhelmed by the size advantage of the Gators on defense not able to get off a shot. The Gators took advantage early on the offensive side of the ball going on a 16-4 run. After the Huskies caught their footing and got adjusted realizing the lanes were closed they began attacking from deep. This strategy proved effective as they scored 12 points in 25 seconds to reduce the lead to one. Once the lead was taken the Huskies gained momentum and never looked back as they won the game 63-53 with ease. With their impressive win against the top-ranked Gators the Huskies are favored to beat the Kentucky Wildcats Monday night in the NCAA National Championship.

Bandwagoners

It amazes me how everyone wants to be apart of greatness, but is never around when greatness is being built. Funny how “fans” rally when a team is winning, but they’re nowhere to be found when a team is losing. Now let’s speak on Miami fans this year alone. The Dolphins go 3-0 you can’t find a seat in SunLife Stadium for Game 4. They go 3-1 the fan participation begins to dwindle. 3-2 the fans begin to question the moves made in the offseason. 3-3 the fans grow skeptical of Coach Philbin’s future in Miami. 4-3 the fans are no longer buying tickets, but instead watching from home. 4-4 the stadium is practically empty. That’s what I call “Show Me Fans,” the fans that expect greatness all the time with no let up. Alabama head football coach, Nick Saban, was even quoted for stating the fans were “spoiled'” after his blowout victory a few weeks ago the home crowd began to leave the stands before the 4th quarter even started. This proves that though there are some true fans out there, most just come along for the ride upon the bandwagon.
